The Théâtre des Doms

MISSIONS

The Théâtre des Doms, run by the Théâtre de l’Escalier des Doms association, is dedicated to showcasing artists and creations from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. It serves as a showcase for French-speaking Belgian creation in France, promoting its dissemination both across French territory and internationally.

Since 1 September 2024, the Théâtre des Doms has been directed by Sandrine Bergot. It is administered by a non-profit association composed of arts and culture professionals and is funded primarily by Wallonie-Bruxelles International, the international relations administration of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.

Although its peak period takes place during the Festival OFF d’Avignon, the Théâtre des Doms remains open year-round. It offers a two-part season (spring and autumn), during which it hosts residency projects and organizes a variety of events for audiences and presenters, notably around Theatre for Young Audiences and the Francophonie.

The Théâtre des Doms supports all performing arts disciplines (theatre, dance, circus and street arts, etc.) while also accompanying certain forms of visual arts. Its programming privileges contemporary works, reflecting a present-day perspective, innovation, and the artistic rigor characteristic of French-speaking Belgian creation.

Finally, the Théâtre des Doms develops collaborative projects with local, national, European, and Francophone partners in order to foster artistic dialogue and enhance the international visibility of the talents it supports.

SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION

As part of its mission to promote and market the works presented at the Théâtre des Doms, the theatre offers distribution support tailored to the needs of each project.

Since the 2025–2026 season, this mission has been entrusted to the Binôme d’Actions en Production & Diffusion (Françoise Hansoul and Julien Sigard). This support is primarily intended for artists with less experience in professional and international distribution. Through a caring approach focused on knowledge-sharing and transmission, the duo provides guidance and expertise in distribution, as well as in production and project administration.

Active in the field for more than 20 years alongside artists, Françoise Hansoul and Julien Sigard regard the Festival d’Avignon as an exceptional showcase for helping contemporary productions grow and enabling artistic teams to develop their skills.

In addition, the Théâtre des Doms benefits from the resources, advice, and expertise of On the Move (an information network on cultural mobility) and WBTD (the Belgian agency supporting the export of creations from the FWB), in connection with ONDA (the French National Office for Artistic Distribution).
