The SABAM Meetings are dedicated to Belgian authors and their works in French and Dutch. Each reading is an opportunity to meet an author and discuss their work over a drink.

Wednesday, October 7 & Thursday, October 8 – Slam Workshop with Mel Moya

Thursday, October 8: 5 PM – 9 PM, followed by an open mic
Led by Mel Moya, a Belgian-Mediterranean poet, feminist activist, and member of the L-SLAM collective. Two sessions to transform personal and collective stories into poetic power.
Focus on the guest: Mel Moya, a slam artist from Seraing in the Liège region, discovered slam through her first trembling performance on crumpled paper—a revelation marked by urgency and rage. Energized, she performed on open-mic stages in Belgium, France, and Switzerland, sharing texts long nurtured in her notebooks. Active in writing workshops and artistic creation, she has won several literary awards and now performs internationally.
Thursday, October 8 & Friday, October 9 – FLE Workshop at Collège Gérard Philippe with Nicolas Ancion

With Belgian author Nicolas Ancion, the French language becomes a playground and a space for freedom. Reading, Q&A, and collective writing: students explore French as a tool for creativity and enjoyment.
Focus on the guest: Nicolas Ancion, a writer from Liège, has explored all literary genres for over 30 years: novels, poetry, theatre, serials, and comic chronicles. Winner of multiple awards, his works have traveled worldwide and form a prolific oeuvre, translated and adapted. Coming from a theatrical background, he also writes collaboratively with his wife, translating from English and Spanish.
Wednesday, October 8 – 7 PM – Label Chartreuse Evening

The Label Chartreuse evening offers a glimpse into the universe of two authors, exploring the “kitchen” of writing, listening to them read their texts and the works that inspire them. One hour in total, a dive into the daily life of the Chartreuse residency, its support for writing, and the joyful discovery of artists’ struggles and commitments.

Meeting, reading, and signing with author, director, performer, and actress Rébecca Chaillon around her book Boudin Biguine Best of Banane (Éditions de l’Arche, 2023), moderated by La Comédie Humaine. In the presence of Claire Stavaux, editor at Éditions de l’Arche.
Focus on the guest: Rébecca Chaillon, a Martiniquais author, director, and performer, blends theatre, performance, artistic self-makeup, and obsession with food into an engaged and impactful body of work. Founder of the company Dans le Ventre, she has been creating powerful performances since 2012, including Carte Noire nommée Désir, staged in the Cour d’Honneur at Festival 2023, and Plutôt Vomir que Faillir, acclaimed by critics. Associated with major institutions, she is a key voice in contemporary performing arts.
